About me
Chanel Durante
I’m an Italian painter based in Sydney. I mainly use oil paint. What we see through the fog or the speed, is not what it is, but what it could be. An indefinite that has an answer in the imagination of the watcher, an unconscious reflection. My artistic research strarts in this intangible relationship between reality and my inner world. The evanescence of impressions is expressed in the melancholy delicacy of my blurred and dreamlike atmospheres; the shades of my landscapes are the memory of elusive emotions.
By living, we collect memories and suggestions; I’m permeated by the illusion of being able to crystallize them in my paintings. While I paint, I enter in an emotional silence where only me and the color exist and in which I can take something out of my soul to place it on the canvas. The feeling that remains to me, after painting, is freedom.
